I appreciate the little things,

or, at least, I've learned to

to appreciate him giving me a smile

looking my way

or the days that some guy will just open a door for me

they don't care that it's only me

I appreciate the way I can see the sunrise,

hear the birds

when I make my way along

I am learning to appreciate the way my friends steer me

right from wrong

clearing me from thoughts that corrupt my mind

keeping me on earth

Though they may not have the same passions

and don't seem to understand my way of thinking

they still care enough

enough to silently give me 'the look' or ignore my comments

comments about things I should know they don't care about

I appreciate the days when I can smell the flowers

soak in the colors

allow the flooding to seep into my brain

and hopefully get between my toes

I appreciate the way their eyes sparkle

sparkle

when I speak of something that they find worth their time

it tells me that I'm on the right track

I appreciate many little things,

but am slowly learning to appreciate more
